Hello and welcome to the Music section of Shaniur.com. I have created this music section to cater for the need of Bangla songs of Probashi Bangladeshis (Bangladeshis living abroad).

As I have been living away from Bangladesh for last 12 years it is difficult to get hold of all the latest music that is released every month. Thanks to the Internet and MP3 technology that in recent times music can be shared easily. Every time I visit Dhaka, I do buy heaps of CDs and try to share them with my friends overseas. Now I have decided to host an MP3 server to share that music over the Internet.

I am not in favour of hosting music using file-swapping clients such as KaZaa, eDonkey, eMule, LimeWire, iMesh, BitTorrent etc. As majority of online Bangladeshis can just about use a web browser, they will prefer just a click-download-and-save procedure rather than going though the complicated process of searching music using file-swapping clients. Also don’t forget the spelling dilemma of Bangla songs. Is it “Aurthohin” or “Orthohin”, “Aak Raat” or “Ek Raat”, "Arnab" or "Ornob"? And the list goes on…

Initially I thought it will end up to be an expensive ordeal for someone like me to host gigabytes of songs and making them available for download by anyone. However, recently I have managed to get a decent server to host music. The server has a decent bandwidth and you should be able to get reasonable download speed. At home in Melbourne I get speeds up to 125 kBps (averaging to 100 kBps).

The songs are sorted in the following way:
Under the "Download" section, all songs by a particular artist is under a directory named after that artist. Albums by that artist has its own subdirectory that contains all the songs of that album. If no album was released for that song or I am not aware of which album that song belogs to, they are under a directory called "unknown album". Often you will find heaps of songs in this directory.
When an album is released that is composed by songs of various artists, those songs are stored under "Various Artists" directory. For example, popular albums like Shopnochura 1 and 2, Re/Evolution are in that directory.

Unfortunately the search feature of this website can only search published documents and articles. I'm working on the file search feature so if you type in for an artist or song title, it will successfully search for it. Sometime in the future (very distant future).

Meanwhile I am planning to publish a list of all the songs that I am currently hosting in this server, so you can use the search function of this website to locate any songs that you are after. However that will take sometime and I cannot promise a time-line.

If you face any downtime when clicking on the "Download" section or getting error messages like "connection timed out", "page not found" etc., drop me a line (use the "Feedback and Comments" page) and I'll follow it up.

Also if you are after any particular song, let me know using the Request Music page and I'll try to make that available. Please do not use "Feedback and Comments" page to send me your music requests.
